Blog & Web Design
Helping individuals and small businesses build their home online is so much fun. Here's some of my favorite projects with a little bit about how we set up each site. Thinking of developing or updating your own blog or site? I'd love to help! Let's see if we can work together.
Janet approached me to help her create an online home for all of her great writing. Challenge happily accepted! We created a website on the Wordpress platform and installed the Genesis framework for a super-stable base and awesome native SEO for her site - and the ability for Janet to start blogging down the line. We added a photo gallery of her favorite snapshots to help showcase her personality, and added a curated selection of her awesome writing over the years.
Lauren was my first "blog friend" and we've grown to be real-life friends over the last few years. When she was ready to re-design her blog, I jumped at the chance to work with her on the project - the drool-worthy food photos and dreamy travel photography made it hard to concentrate, but we got there eventually ;) Lauren was blogging on Wordpress.com, and we set her up to be self-hosted, responsive blog on the Wordpress platform. We added a few custom-designed pages, like her travel archives and about page and she was off and blogging!
ShoeHeals is a Chicago-based non-profit doing big things. I was so honored when Charisma, the founder, reached out about developing her site. We built the site on SquareSpace so that her staff could learn to update and manage the site on their own after the initial build-out. Charisma is a woman with a vision, and we used strong bright colors, fun photos and a scrolling parallax layout to visually showcase all of the amazing things her organization is doing.
Mr. Boleyn was referred to me by a dear friend of mine, and (just like his sister) he was such a pleasure to work with! Matt wanted a website to help advertise his areas of legal practice; while his company had their own site, having a little home of his own on the internet was the next step as he grows his career. The site was developed on the Wordpress platform and included content areas for all of his areas of practice, his background, and his commitment to community involvement.
Miss. K of Paytington has a heart of gold and a love of all things nautical, making her vision both fun and easy to execute. We built a blog for Paytington, her lifestyle brand, on the Wordpress platform, moving over her existing content from Blogger. We integrated a scrolling homepage with content blocks introducing Katharine and the company's areas of focus, and seamlessly added a blog into the site experience. Such a fun project to work on!
The project that began it all! I helped to found the Second City Food, Wine and Social Club and had a blast creating and managing this site. It was the first expression of the brand of the club: secretive and sleek, upscale but not overly serious. The site included a members-only section, photo galleries, a blog and photo gallery integration.
//Second City is no longer a functioning site, sadly!
